The P&O Behavioral Health Initiative (POBHI), a nonprofit organization based in Webster-Worcester County, is excited to announce the receipt of a $50,000 grant from The Boston Foundation. This generous funding will enhance POBHI’s efforts to provide mental health support and training programs tailored for immigrants, people of color, and other minority groups.
“We are thrilled by this support from The Boston Foundation,” said Octavia Nankunda, Clinical Director and Co-Founder of POBHI. “This grant will help us continue addressing the challenges faced by many individuals in our community who struggle to access mental health care. Our goal is to raise awareness, provide critical resources, and ensure better integration of individuals into the care they need.”
Since its founding in 2020, POBHI has been committed to offering culturally competent mental health services to underserved populations across Greater Boston, Haverhill, Worcester, and beyond. The organization provides therapy, case management, community education, and support programs to diverse groups, including youth, seniors, and families.
The $50,000 grant comes from The Boston Foundation’s Permanent Fund for Boston’s Future, a long-standing endowment established to support the region’s growth. The Boston Foundation distributes over $15 million annually through discretionary grants to nonprofits serving Greater Boston, helping to meet the needs of local communities.
